Day 7: It's been quite a journey

Ladies and gentlemen, I write here on our last day of boycott with a heart full of pride and triumph. Though more and more messages have been appearing in the class folder, it is only an indication of our victory. The discussion today: kicking out Lauren. We can all agree this is a boring topic of discussion and reading the emails about it is tedious and awful, but it's a contribution, and all contributions are valid and valued. We here at the One Week of Silence Initiative have strived to accomplish just that--freedom of posting without the fear of your contribution being called "spam" or having an overbearing Folder Moderator delete it because it isn't relevant. Tomorrow I will post the final agreement (which is completed and awaiting signature by our class president and vice president) to this blog, to let you all know the new rules of our conference. Come back tomorrow, comrades, and you will not be disappointed. It has been a hard week for all of us. Relapses for some, rehabilitation for most, but we got through it all right, and in the end, we did win. We were victorious in our mission. We are, and will continue to be (so as to ensure no events similar to these occur again), One Week of Silence.

Very weird

I've noticed something very weird happening in the class of 2009 folder. Apperently they miss our spam so much and how we make fun of Holroyd that they have created their own spam and they have found a person to make fun of. (Lauren) This one week of silence thing was a complete success. \/\/3 0\/\/\@g3) -3- ^r3&)3\-.

Day 6: One step closer to victory

Today there were many posts in the class folder, but that is ok. 30% of them were either apologies or requests for apologies from Saif and Megan. In response to these cries for an apology and the reunitement of our class folder, Saif published this apology:

"I would like to publicly apologize for being stupid and retarded. Newly enforced rules of the class folder, say whatever you please, but no profanity. John, Chris and Ish, come back to the class folder, we need you."

Congratulations, One Week of Silence team! We're almost there. Now we write our code of rules for the class folder, to be signed and agreed upon by Saif Latif (our class president) and possibly Megan Hutchinson (our vice president, although she really has no precident... hahaha good pun). Don't take these apologies to mean we've won though. Just because we've won on paper doesn't mean we should go back to posting yet. Do not post until Wednesday, November 8--if you do, we've failed as an organization and team. Don't give in until the fight is over. Show them the "week" in "One Week of Silence," not the "weak."

Day 5: We get noticed

Although today there were 3 postings in the class folder, they were all positive towards our cause. Lauren wrote in asking about us. In answer, we will rebegin our postings to the conference on Wednesday, November 8. Later in the day, Cory wrote into the folder to comment on how barren it was without the One Week of Silence contributors. Finally, a slanderous and incorrect email came from Megan. She described the One Week of Silence's purpose as:

"...to prove that noone uses this folder without them."

Completely false. Our purpose is to show that without the random or useless messages they call spam, there is nothing in the conference. Again we were shocked to learn of Megan's incorrect views when she commented:

"...Once people realize there wont be anymore 'nonsense' [in the class folder] they'll use the folder again."

Garbage. People only contribute when they see others contributing. Not just a few people were sending messages to the folder. Many people were, some who had never posted before. That is because they felt safe with the barrage of emails entering the conference. Without these emails, it is akward and lonely to write into the conference, discouraging discussion. That's what they want--to discourage discussion. And that is part of what we are fighting.

Apology

Lauren I apologize for saying those mean things about you. I mean all you were trying to do was find out when we would finished the silence. I'm so terribly ashamed of my self... MOTHER OF FREAKING GOD WTHWTHISFM JFAFJDSLKJFALKSDJF 3 MESSAGES IN ONE FREAKING DAY. GOD. ANOTHER ONE WAS JUST SENT, OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.

And the silence is broken...

Earlier today, Lauren stupidly broke the silence by asking us when we were to finish this one week of silence. WELL LAUREN, OBVIOUSLY ONE FREAKING WEEK FROM WHEN WE STARTED. GOD. But on the brightside, that was only one e-mail this whole week. Hopefully lauren dosen't post anthing else unless she's looking for a beating... No wait WTF. I'm not ending this here, WTH is wrong with you Lauren, i mean you never EVER post on the class of 2009 folder and then finally, during the week of silence you post a message. WTH i dont get it. MOTHER OF GOD. Anyways, Lauren screwed up everything. THANKS LAUREN. F'ing hell.

Day 4: Homework day

We all know that Saturday is homework day. This means, on any other weekend, that everyone would be sending frantic messages to the class folder about what the Biology work was or what page they needed to read to for English. However, this weekend there was not one post. Not one. It has been 3 days. Never before has such a momentous event occurred. Congratulations, boycott-ers!

Day 3: Message free

Once more, a day goes by without one email sent to the conference. Can you feel the sense of loss? I feel the vibrations as our grade unity falls apart... Looks like the lack of some key forum contributors does a lot, doesn't it? We'll see how the next week goes. One Week of Silence will prevail.

Day 2: Surprised? We weren't.

As day two progressed, there was a very interesting and noticeable element in the class folder. No emails. Not one email was sent all day long, which is very rare for a day when there is no school. Good job guys. We will show them we mean business.

Day 1: We begin on a high note

Today we began our struggle against foolish intollerance and censorship. As our first move as an organization, we waged a major fight against the Class of 2009 conference controllers. We told them outright that Chris and Ish needed to be allowed back into the class folder, and that it was unjust to block them in the first place. Needless to say, battle won.

Welcome to the One Week of Silence Blog!

Welcome to the One Week of Silence Blog. Today we begin an era in Sophmore Class folder posting history. We at the One Week of Silence organization pledge to not use the class folder for one week in protest against all of those who have sent in emails against message posting. Though in our history we have all at one time or another made comments we may regret, and at times may have been against such a cause, we are all now one. We are fighting against those who view discussion as "spam". We are fighting against overcensorship. We are fighting for the future of our class folder. We are One Week of Silence, and that is what we will be doing.
